Minimizing Friction

Da Vinci was the first to realize that even though machines do provide mechanical advantage, it is limited - due to friction. Experimenting with friction extensively, he deduced number of relevant principles that are valid to this day, and suggested ingenious solutions and devices for reducing the problem to a minimum.
