Igniting the minds of young children
About 120 third grade students from Haifa have participated in Junior.FLL, a robotics event hosted, organized, and managed by Madatech, in association with the social-ideological education department in Haifa Municipality.
On Sunday, 16.01.11, Madatech opened its doors to 120 students from schools around Haifa to participate in the final event of the Haifa Junior FLL robotics project.
Junior FLL – Junior First Lego League is a program designed to capture young children's inherent curiosity and creativity and direct it toward discovering a world of robotic possibilities. This is where they build an autonomic robot that can execute several tasks, using Lego Mindstorm Systems.

The program utilizes theme-based challenges to engage kids in research, creative thinking and problem solving in groups of up to 6 children. The children had to work in full cooperation as teams, illustrate their research information and solution on a poster, and build a Lego model to show how they thought to solve the problem they chose. All children also participated in activities in Madatech's The Robotic World exhibition.
Under the guidance of Madatech's teachers and instructors, several groups of students explored the 2010 Body Forward Challenge and discovered innovative solutions for maximizing human body performance. Amongst the models presented were robots supplying medicines, identifying Apnoea and performing resuscitation, a robotic wheelchair and more.
First is an international organization, encouraging youth to engage in science and technology. The highlight of these activities is an international robotics competition, in which teams of students from all over the world meet to compete in a robotic sports field.
