Winners of the International Environment Related Photography Competition!
It was not an easy job for the judges, to choose between the unique photos capturing the Israeli nature. After much thought, the judges decided to grant two photos the tiltle of first place:
 The Crying Hoopoe, Caught in a unique moment by Pavel Dormidontov of Ganigar school
 It Doesn'e Belong Here... This unique angle shows us the effect of humans on nature. it was taken by Mor Mashkovsky of Nofim school
Congratulations! The winning photos are on display in a special exhibition at Chabot and Madatech
Some background on the competition:
Madatech – Israel’s National Museum of Science & Space in Haifa, in cooperation with Haifa Municipality’s social education department, Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection and Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, USA, invited Haifa’s high schools to participate in an extraordinary international environment related photography competition.
Students were invited to explore their imagination and use their talent and creativity to take powerful photos that conveyed the importance of preserving our environment.
Students could choose from several themes: • Smart water consumption • Energy saving • Preserving a clean environment • Beach cleaning • Recycling • Encouraging bicycle riding and walking • Any other environmental theme, relevant to the school or community.
Participating schools were required to fill out an application form and send it to madatech.sviva@gmail.com.
Each participating school had to send up to 3 digital photos in Jpeg or Tiff format One photo out of the three should have been printed on an A3 board was submitted to Haifa’s Mayor on Earth Day, held at Madatech on 22.04.10.
A panel of judges, comprised of representatives from Madatech, Haifa Municipality, Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection and Chabot examined the photos and chose the best 30 ones.
