gifted students from the Reali School come to MadaTech

מחוננים_ריאלי-8791.jpgFor the third year in a row, once a week, 76 excelling and gifted students from the Hebrew Reali School come to MadaTech to experience a different kind of learning in scientific fields that are not part of the school curriculum.
The fourth- to sixth-graders crack codes, discover the secrets of chemistry, engage in mathematical thinking, construct robots and explore the world of space. Most importantly, they conduct their own in-depth research, boning up on problem-solving strategies and strengthening their critical thinking, originality and creativity. While grappling with scientific issues and coping with problems that come up in their research, students learn how to constructively manage their frustrations, how to take risks and pursue non-conventional ideas, as well as how to use their time more effectively. In efforts to further develop their emotional intelligence—of particular importance with gifted youngsters—students also engage in art, a non-verbal activity that allows them to enhance their imagination, while giving expression to their emotions.
"The program's success stems from the incredible, highly stimulating MadaTech environment and the great enthusiasm of the MadaTech teachers, as well as their ability to stimulate and challenge these kids," comments the father of a gifted student who has been in the program for three years: "MadaTech instructors teach the kids to ask questions, to work out solutions and to do a lot of thinking, rather than learning by rote."
